Help Us Fight Unfair Tariffs That Could Endanger Millions of Businesses & Your Pet’s Food

I’m reaching out to you not just as the Owner, Founder, President & CEO of identity Pet Nutrition, but as a small business owner who is facing an unprecedented challenge—one that could impact the future of our company and the availability of the food you trust for your pets.

Recently, President Trump proposed a 25% tariff on Canadian goods, which would directly affect identity Pet Nutrition and countless other small businesses. Since we make our products in Canada to ensure the highest quality ingredients and production standards, these tariffs would drastically increase costs, potentially forcing us to either raise prices or risk going out of business. They threaten to stifle supply chains. We’re already experiencing impacts from our trading partners because of the uncertainty.

We have always been committed to providing your pets with fresh, gently cooked, and minimally processed food made from high-quality, non-rendered non-factory farmed meats—something that is difficult, if not impossible, to achieve at scale in the U.S. due to ingredient limitations and industry constraints. We’ve tried to make product in America for 4 years & it’s been impossible while keeping our award-winning quality standards. This tariff threatens our ability to continue offering the premium pet food you’ve come to rely on with consistent pricing certainty.

How You Can Help

We need to make our voices heard before these tariffs become reality. Here’s what you can do:

1. Sign our petition: https://chng.it/jHZJxdg9q5

2. Email or call your representatives: Let them know that these tariffs hurt small businesses and consumers. Find your Representative: https://www.congress.gov/members

3. Share this message: Spread the word on social media and with fellow pet parents to build awareness.

Your support means everything to us. We are fighting to continue providing your pets with the best food possible while keeping prices fair and ensuring our small, family-owned business can thrive.

Thank you for standing with us. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to reply—I’d love to hear from you.

With gratitude,

EXAMPLE LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES

Subject: Urgent: Stop the 25% Tariff on Canadian Goods – Protect Small Businesses & Pet Owners

Dear President Donald J. Trump, Members of Congress and U.S. Trade Representatives,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the proposed 25% tariff on Canadian goods, which would have devastating effects on small businesses and consumers across the United States. As a devoted pet owner and supporter of small, family-owned businesses, I urge you to reconsider this policy and advocate for exemptions that protect both American entrepreneurs and consumers.

One of the companies that will be severely impacted is identity Pet Nutrition, a Colorado small business that provides high-quality, minimally processed pet food sourced from premium ingredients in Canada. The company operates in the United States, pays U.S. taxes, and creates jobs, yet these tariffs would force them to raise prices drastically or risk going out of business altogether.

Why This Matters:

• Higher Costs for Pet Owners – A 25% tariff would make high-quality pet food unaffordable for many families, forcing pet owners to choose between their pet’s health and their budget.

• Threat to Small Businesses – Identity Pet Nutrition is one of the few remaining independent pet food brands. This tariff would further consolidate the industry under large conglomerates, limiting consumer choice.

• Ingredient & Manufacturing Constraints – The company sources its ingredients and manufactures in Canada because U.S. facilities are unable or unwilling to meet the same quality standards. Shifting production is neither immediate nor feasible.

• Inflation & Economic Harm – These tariffs act as a tax on American consumers and small businesses, worsening inflation at a time when affordability is already a major concern.

I urge you to support exemptions for agricultural goods, steel/aluminum cans, pet foods, and software services such as Shopify which supports small businesses.

American small businesses should not be punished for sourcing the best possible products for consumers. I strongly oppose these tariffs and ask you to stand with small businesses, pet owners, and the millions of Americans who rely on affordable, high-quality pet food.

Please take action to ensure that small businesses like identity Pet Nutrition can continue to serve American consumers without being unfairly penalized.

Sincerely,
